November Show @ HlavaXXII, Bratislava

November's show at HlavaXXII went great. Aside from some technical challenges, the band is getting better and better. Thanks to everyone that came out. Playing in a band is fun, but playing live can be a lot of work. Even if you play the flute, you still have transportation and other worries. Sometimes the whole social event of 'the show' seems to out weigh artistic goals. You may spend more time advertising your show than practicing for it. During this particular show I saw someone singing along with my song "Miss O'Jenny." That was a great "Ah Ha! Art!" moment for me. Thanks.

Grande abraço to Mustafa's friend Michal Jellinek who took some awesome fotos of us. The first thing I thought was, yes, beard is good. The second thing was that I should design a new ZDF website around these fotos. What do you think?

For the first time ever, I posted an entire song from a show to YouTube. It's the Archers Of Loaf cover I do called Web In Front. Thanks to my dad for the tiny organ. I hope some old Archers fans will find this.

ZDF on the radio

Right after SXSW in March I heard that the radio station Radar, in Lisbon, had played part of an interview with me (nathan). I've made some effort to get ZDF on the radio in Slovakia, too. I heard from Mustafa that Rock Jam Radio is playing Cutting Each Word. Check it out it if you like. I assume we are on the "indies" channel with other independent artists like Placebo and The Cure.

Mind Beam Music

My friend Steve, a.k.a. MindBeamMusic, came down to check out the Bratislava scene. Look forward to some DJ sets from him in the area in the future and hopefully a show with us together!

Thanks to everyone that came out to my solo show at Cafe Stena. It was really fun, spectrally enhanced by their new disco ball, čľups! Check out the video on YouTube. Novo Zé Dos Frangos Website!!

Welcome, Vitaj, and Bemvindo to the new Zé Dos Frangos website. I'm really excited that ZDF finally has it's own homepage. Let me give you a little tour. The Reverbnation widget there on the left does a lot of stuff. Play music, watch video, see show listings, sign up for the mailing list, and even check out other artists. There is also a 'share' section where you can embed a ZDF music player into your own site, blog, facebook page, etc.

Below and to the left is some helpful info with links and my email. Then to the right are some videos including a montage of our SXSW 2008 related shows. Continuing down and to the left is a simple message board. You want to go where people know, people are all the same.

At the very bottom you'll find links to ZDF in other languages. Last are the ads at the right. I hope they will help support the cost of maintaining this site and won't detract too much from it's purpose. Ďakujem krasný Táňa za pomocť!

Survived SXSW 2008!

Wooohooo SXSW! It was a blast. Thanks to everyone that came out to Copa for our show and I hope you can come to our show on Friday at Flipnotic's at 10:30. We euro-flaved so hard that the electricity blew half-way through Cutting Each Word. As the electrical fire ensued around us the audience applauded our excellent pyrotechnics. We also saw lots of great bands. Of course Dizzee Rascal was good, but I also had a lot of fun seeing The Choir Practice and Tiger City. This was the first year that classical music was included. I got to see the hypnotic piece, Drumming, by Steve Reich. On the last night Black Moth Super Rainbow threw a great party full of confetti, piñatas, and great music.
